Hair Affair

I'm cutting my hair tomorrow. It's longer than it's ever been in my life... and sometimes I get all big headed about it, like when my sister says I have "mermaid hair." But it's driving me insane.

I've been going for this:

But due to my overall lacking in other areas... as well as my general approach (or lack thereof) to getting ready these days, I've been startlingly more in line with this:

'Cept without all that shine.

Side note--I actually saw Camryn Manheim at Fisherman's Warf in San Francisco when I was in high school. I snuck up and touched the back of her jacket and then told everybody I talked to her.

So anyway, the hair's gotta go. I'm not sure what I want to do yet. Today I was fantasizing about this transformation:

Holy smokes that new blonde hair is so smokin' I can hardly contain myself. But again, I'd probably end up closer to this:

(Demi + Bruce = the most unfortunate combo ever)

SOOO I'm at a loss. And feeling frumpalicious. And may just end up getting a perm.

NOOOOOO!!! I would absolutely kill for your hair! I can't even get mine past my chin before I get all frumped out and hack it off again.

Sigh. I'm sure you'll look gorgeous no matter what. Well, unless you go for the Scout look (or Rumer, or whoever that one is up there).

I think you should go for your 4th grade mushroom haircute Nessa. And yes there was a perm involved there, too. Bring it back baby. Bring it back.

You know my opinion. I always want everyone to hack their hair. Because yes you do have mermaid hair but hair grows back and change is good. And I hate it when people say, "I really needed a change, so I took 1/4 inch off of my 18 inch hair, and I took the color from 'dark brown' to 'chocolate.' And really, I just feel like a totally new person!" And they look EXACTLY THE SAME and their husbands get in trouble for not noticing because there is nothing different, not only to their husbands but to anyone. Change is good Nessa! And Bruce and Demi really do have a very unfortunate combo.

I just caught my husband laughing out loud on the couch when he was supposed to be doing homework. Guess what he was reading??? This post. (Not a big surprise, however, because it wasn't the first time it's happened.)

Hair cuts are so exciting! Change is always fun (but just so you know, you have NO good reason to feel frumpy, missy). I can't actually give any good suggestions because I have absolutely NO vision when it comes to hair, but I don't think it's possible for you to look anything but gorgeous. I can't wait to see how it turns out!

Don't chop it! Just get lots and lots of layers and a big barrel curling iron. And bangs, I'm obsessed with bangs. You can usually get good curlings irons at beauty supply stores (like Sally's). I really like the hot tools brand. I'm actually really obsessed with big loose wavy curls lately also. Good luck.

I think your hair looks so pretty long, but I'm sure it would look great shorter too! Can't wait to see what you decide. I just always make sure mine is long enough for a ponytail since that's how it ends up on most days:-)

Vanessa and Frump: IMPOSSIBLE. Seriously, but I do know how you feel. After almost 3 months of feeling like a human bottle and having my hair in a pony tail pretty much every day I'm excited for the haircut I have scheduled for Friday. And honestly, sometimes I try to make sure it's haircut that requires some effort so that I have to try...

But I know you'll look fabulous no matter what you decide.

Oh and thank you for pointing out that just because 2 people are famous doesn't guarantee they will make beautiful children.

Okay how do you do it? Your wit just constantly blows me away. I wish I could see inside that brain of yours and check out all that creative juice.

I am excited about your new style. If only I had known that you wanted to go for the bleached butch I could have easily hooked you up.

I'm with Mera. I can't remember ever seeing your hair anything but really long, maybe with slighter variations in color between black and light brown, and I think it's empowering to do a drastic makeover. I am kind of against having the same hairstyle for 10 years or crying over chopping off a few inches. So, I say go for it!!! You have a good face for anything and probably any color. So be daring. It'll be fun. . .(and don't forget to donate it if it's over 9 inches.)

Where have I been? Hello good posts.

Firstly, ditto on the unfortunate meshing of Bruce+Demi's genes. Wow.

Secondly, I may or may not have pics of little Kat on my desktop right now contemplating that same possibility. She's so hot right now. Alas, my face looks nothing like hers and would be an unfortunate incident certainly. (trying to imitate, that is)

Lastly, love your hair. Love it long, but I also have always had a thing for short hair. Love it. Not that I'd have a thing for YOU with short hair, at least not in a creepy lesbian sort of way.

TMI? Hope not. ;)
