A Midautumn Night's Dream

Leah and I were on our way home from our daily stroll (let's be honest, WEEKLY stroll) and I couldn't help but be taken aback by this lovely bit of wilderness outside our apartment.  I figured I best take advantage and snap some pics...No doubt the groundskeepers were on their way to rake up all the leaves and spoil the splendor!  Autumn is simply magical.. 

I can pretend no longer....

So, I've been having a love/hate realtionship with this blog lately. Every day in the back of my mind there is a little nagging voice telling me I need to update, yet every time I attempt, all I can think about is how much I don't want to be doing it. As the days have passed, I've developed a severe case of "blog anxiety" (nightmares, paranoia, etc.) so I decided I would just tell you all how I've been feeling, post some pictures, and be done with it! I'm not sure what to attribute this blog anxiety to... whether it's my lack of energy, committment... or possibly just the brain attrophy I've experienced as a stay-at-home mom that has left me with nothing creative and/or funny and/or inspiring to say, but, here it is! Maybe some of you have some words of encouragement to help get me out of this blogging depression. In the mean time....

Soooo... this is going to be a quick post because I have a lot to tell about our trip to Utah but no time to tell it!  BUT, I wanted to post a few pics that we got taken while there.... just a glimpse...

THUMBS SUCK....

So... Leah discovered her thumb is ideal for sucking the other day.... I thought it was the cutest thing I'd ever seen. I shouted for Sam to come look but immediately regretted it... when he set his sights on our little girl, sucking away, I watched as his eyes bugged out of his head and glazed over ... I knew the damage was done.

You see, Sam sucked his thumb till the ripe age of 8. Those of you who know him may find this alarming but it was so bad that his big brother Joe coated his thumb in paint thinner... Much to his dismay, Sam found the thinner to be delicious! Joe had unwittingly introduced him to a new addiction that would take him years to kick.  

As a final resort, he began surprising Sam in the night.  If he found Sam sucking, he would drag him out of bed and make him do pushups... he once did 350 ... The memories still haunt him to this day....

Hours after Leah's thumb sucking incident, after we'd all gone to bed, I was awakened by shouting in the living room.  Given Sam's past, I wasn't surprised when this is what I saw...

Last night, for some reason, when I changed Leah into her PJs she was in an especially feisty mood... I was startled by some of the moves she was pulling....

Little Leah was born May 12th, 2008 in San Francisco. Obviously Sam and I are both smitten kittens. We love love love our little heffa. Here are a few pics to get caught up!

While I fully intend on looking cute as a button in most of the pictures I post on this blog I felt it was only fair to reveal to the world what my dear husband gets to come home to every evening....



P.S. Those cheddar jack CHEEZ-ITS are DELICIOUS! Before we were married, Sam and I lived on a strict diet of CHEEZ-ITS and diet mountain dew. We deduced they are laced with crack cocaine... CRACK-ITS.
